the mother of the civil rights movement - rosa parks playlist

When writing Who Sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott? Rosa Parks, the book came at a time when Black Lives Matter was really ramping up.

I was terrified of both Coronavirus AND being Black in America. I was able to sit and write the graphic novel as an outlet. I’m so lucky. I got to tell the story of a courageous and wonderful Black woman that rocked the world.

I made a playlist along the way. Both for the writing process and to keep me grounded.

These songs are mostly songs I think Rosa would have loved. A solid mixture of protest, love, and how being Black is fucking fantastic.

I really hope everyone likes this book. I love it. It’s my pride and joy. I’m so proud of it and I’m so proud of Rosa. RIP Queen.
